Design of two cascade run-off-river hydropower plants named Roshka3 and Roshka2

The project

FROSIO NEXT performed the design of two cascade run-off-river type hydropower plants along Roshka river, in Mtskheta-Mtianeti region, in Georgia.
The SHPP Roshka 2 is located upstream and the design discharge was set at 1,7 m3/s. It will be diverted from the Roskha river at an elevation of about 1750 m a.s.l.. An approximately 1,4 km long penstock will convey the water from the intake to the powerhouse. The powerhouse will host a single production unit equipped with an horizontal axis cross-flow turbine. After passing through the turbine, the water will be discharged in Roshka river. Immediatly downstream, Roshka 3 hydropower plant is located. The design discharge was set at 1,4 m3/s. It will be diverted from the Roskha river at an elevation of about 1560 m a.s.l.; an approximately 1 km long penstock will convey the water from the intake to the powerhouse. In the powerhouse, a single production unit equipped with an horizontal axis cross-flow turbine will be installed.
